Manual lymphatic drainage is a relaxing, non-invasive treatment designed to improve circulation, improve the appearance of the skin and skin tone, release toxins and water retention from the body, as well as break up the appearance of cellulite.
Manual lymphatic drainage is an essential anti-aging aid since it contributes to the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. Since it is our internal filtration device, the lymphatic system is a major part of the immune system, too. Its main job is to filter blood and dispose toxic waste. To maintain great internal and external health, it is important to make sure we have a healthy lymph system that can remove as many toxins as possible.
Lymphatic drainage massage is the optimal post-operative care treatment for plastic surgery patients as it reduces swelling, by draining bodily fluids through your lymph nodes. One of the main complications after plastic surgery is known as fibrosis, or chronic inflammatory reactions from fluid build-ups lying under your skin when left untreated. Fibrosis can cause hardening of the skin, swelling or bruising to occur.

Proper functioning of the Lymphatic System is critical to the body’s ability to detox, drain fluids, and most importantly, maintain a healthy immune system. Lymph vessels and nodes work together to accomplish these functions. Lymph vessels rely on a small muscular unit contracting throughout the body in order propel the lymph. These contractions allow the lymph vessels to transport various substances (i.e. toxins, hormones, fatty acids, protein, immune cells) to the lymph nodes, at which point it can be processed. This function can be hindered or stopped due to stress, lack of physical activity, emotional imbalances, age, swelling, alcohol consumption, chemicals or food additives. When the circulation is stagnate fluids, cells, and toxins accumulate and the lymphatic system’s function is comprised.
